Facilities at Rockhampton Special School include air-conditioned classrooms, heated pool, multi-sensory room, home economics room, industrial technology and design (ITD) and library. The school has two school buses (one with wheelchair access), secure playground areas, outdoor learning areas situated within well maintained grounds and a bike track with a large range of bicycles and tricycles. All classrooms are wheelchair accessible. A large quantity of specialised equipment has also been purchased to support student programs.
Rockhampton Special School also provides an educational service to school aged patients, and children or siblings of patients at the Rockhampton Base Hospital. The success of this service requires close liaison with QLD health staff and students’ base schools.
