The curriculum at Rockhampton Special School assists students to prepare for their place in the wider community.
Rockhampton Special School is implementing the Australian Curriculum in English, maths, science, history, geography, technology and the arts. The curriculum is differentiated to meet the unique learning needs of individual students. Rockhampton Special School also identifies the need to teach fundamental life skills alongside the mandated curriculum requirements outlined by Department of Education.
Our curriculum plan has linked the rationale and structure of the P–12 framework to individual program development and assessment for students with disabilities.
The school also recognizes that there are students with severe and multiple disabilities who require additional specialized curriculum consideration and employs the Pre-Intentional Curriculum Framework (with a focus on communication, social interaction and cognitive development) for students across the phases of schooling as required.
